: The enzyme is involved in the pathway of ubiquinone-8 in Escherichia coli. COQ3 from human, yeast and rat also catalyse the reaction although this is not a step in biosynthesis of ubiquinone in these organisms [10419476]. The enzyme also catalyses the methylation of 3-demethylubiquinone-8 (this activity is classified as EC 2.1.1.64) [8703953].
