: This enzyme participates in the biosynthetic pathway for CPD-10314, an important precursor of B-band lipopolysaccharide. The enzymes from ORG-6217 and TAX-274 form a complex with the enzyme that catalyses the next step in the pathway, EC 2.6.1.o (UDP-2-acetamido-2-deoxy-ribo-hexuluronate aminotransferase). The enzyme also possesses an EC 1.1.99.2 (2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase) activity, and utilizes the 2-KETOGLUTARATE produced by EC 2.6.1.o to regenerate the tightly bound NAD+. The enzymes from TAX-520 and TAX-536 do not bind NAD NAD+ as tightly and do not require 2-KETOGLUTARATE 2-oxoglutarate to function.
