The substrate CPD-9959, which is formed by the action of EC 4.2.3.37, MONOMER-13904, is first oxidized to yield the epimeric intermediates (CPD-9961 and CPD-9960, which can be further oxidized to yield the sesquiterpenoid antibiotic CPD-9962.
